A clinical tool for otoscopic and audiometric examination.
The AudioScope was evaluated in both the laboratory and clinical settings. The audiometric calibration of the instrument proved to be reliable and easy to achieve. Clinical evaluation with 182 subjects demonstrated that audiometric detection with the AudioScope shows good agreement with conventional clinical audiometry. The instrument is a useful clinical adjunct to audiometry, as it generally classifies the setting and level of the audiogram and provides information on subject cooperation. This information can improve the efficiency of manual threshold audiometry, especially in pediatric cases.
